ABOUT ROBERT BISHOP

Hi, I'm Rob and I help make people better drummers, and if you've never played before then I can help give you the solid foundation you need to become a good drummer.

My teaching is based on playing to actual music, not boring, repetitive exercises. We might work on Trinity Rock and Pop graded tunes and learning those charts, or your own favourite music that you've always wanted to learn and jam to.

Obviously specific drum and snare related exercises have their uses, but only to get you playing what you want to play.

Whatever your style, I can help get you results.

Those results though, take a bit of effort from you too, and that's cool, isn't it? I'll make sure that you know what you need to be practising to move forward, and you just need to do that. Deal?!

I teach from my studio (online only) and peripatetically in schools and colleges. I was the Lead Music Mentor for Essex Music Service (EMS), running and facilitating projects for children with learning disabilities. I spent some time at Barnet and Southgate College as their Music Lecturer specialising in teaching their SEN and those with Autism, PMLD and LD. I was also the Musical Inclusion Specialist for MusicNet East.

Most of all, I'm a professional drummer and experienced teacher, offering friendly and bespoke tuition from my studio in Rainham, Essex, and due to COVID I have completely re-designed and rebuilt my studio to accommodate the ''new normal'' and unfortunately face-to-face tuition is no longer available due to studio space.

If you are a complete beginner and have no gear, I would always advise to get, as a minimum, a pair of sticks and a pad (regardless of doing face-to-face or online as you would need something to practice the lesson material).
